Kenwa Mabuni

Kenwa Mabuni was a renowned martial artist who played a significant role in the development and popularization of Okinawan karate. He was born in Shuri, Okinawa in 1889 and started training in marital arts at a young age. Mabuni eventually founded his own style called Shito-Ryu, which combines elements of both Shuri-Te and Naha-Te, two major styles of Okinawan karate. His style emphasizes strong stances, powerful strikes, and strong movements. Mabuni's contributions to karate have had a lasing impact, and his legacy continues to inspire practitioners around the world. 

Practicing Karate

Requirements for Class

Students will be required to wear a Karate Gi and appropriate colored Obi to class. Gi's are not to be worn outside of the dojo. Students will also need to provide their own weapons for class.  A list of recommended weapons makers will be given at the appropriate time.

Classes are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
